I’ll continue on with our house tour and show you the downstairs bathroom. The bathroom when we moved in was a vision of lemon yellow, sky blue and black. I’m guessing it was 1950’s and I’m sure all the rage at the time. In fact, lots of people might still like this style, and it could be considered retro. However, it was really not to our taste and I found the room dark and damp. We ripped the old bathroom out the first week we moved in (at the same time the kitchen and utility room were being installed, it was a bit hellish with dust for a while). The new bathroom was fitted before Christmas 2015, so has been in place for a whole year. I still haven’t photographed it properly, so I must get round to doing that. In the meantime, here are some “before” photos for your viewing pleasure. The photo quality is poor as I had to snap them the day we moved in, just before the guys came to smash all the tiles into a million pieces!
A lot of the wall crumbled away with the tiles, so it was more expensive than we had bargained for as they had to line a lot of the wall with plaster board. However, the result is a smooth, clean and classic bathroom which we love. I’ll share some photos of the “after” soon!
